Our
self-made boxes Because of Tommy's problems with
struvite and blatter infections, he was put on a diet food. Not very practical,
when there are other cats around... He was not allowed to eat from there food.
We decided to make a box with an entrance that was large enough for the other
cats, but too small for Tommy.
For an optimal
delivery, we made a special delivery box. Females are supposed to
feel save and comfortable in this box, and that has it effect on the
instinct of moving the kittens. The box is easy to clean, can be
dark and keeps in the warmth. The lid can be opened in 2 ways, for
1/3, and for the whole. A wooden box is more hygenic than a carton
one. The box has an opening at the front, so it is easier for the
female to leave the box, but it is high enough to keep young kittens
from leaving it. The box is 70 cm long, 45 cm wide and 35 cn high.
It is painted several times to make it waterproof.
Kittenbox: In time (mosty when the kittens
are 3 weeks) the delivery box is not large enough anymore. Therefore, we
designed our kittenbox. This box is made of plexi-glass and can completely be
dismantled. We use this box approximately untill the kittens are 6 weeks old,
mostly to train them to use the litterbox.
